Want Soft Carpet Underfoot? Take Note of These Five Tips

When you walk across soft carpet, your feet sink gently into it, and it feels soft underfoot. In order to get soft carpet underfoot, there are multiple things you can do. To treat your toes to softness, keep the following tips in mind.

1. Buy soft carpet

Wool and nylon carpet tend to be the softest, and if possible, look for plush saxony carpet. This carpet looks attractive and feels so soft you may want to take a nap on it.

Ideally, you want to stay away from flat carpets and instead look for deep, plush pile. Try walking on a sample of the carpet to test how soft it feels before you buy it.

2. Invest in a thick pad

Even the softest carpet won't feel soft enough if you don't have a thick pad. Pads can be expensive, but they are well worth the money. Invest in the thickest carpet pad you can find, and if you really want your existing carpet to be softer, consider tearing it up and adding a soft pad underneath it.

3. Institute a socks-only rule

Taking your shoes off at the door is essential if you want to keep dirt out of your carpet, but you should also avoid walking on your carpet too often in barefeet. Your feet have oils that get into the carpet and mat it down, making it feel less soft underfoot.

To avoid dirty, oily, matted down carpet, institute a socks-only rule for everyone in the house. If you have pets, consider having them wear socks as as well to keep their paw oils out of the carpet fibers.

4. Clean your carpet regularly

Regardless of how diligent you are about your carpet, it will eventually get some dirt and oil into it. In most cases, your vacuum will not be able to get rid of all of these elements. Because of this, you should hire carpet cleaning experts to come at least once a year or more often if you have kids, pets, or smokers in your home or if you simply spend a lot of time at home.

As soon as the carpets dry, you will notice that they feel softer underfoot.

5. Invest in a carpet rake

In between professional cleanings and after routine vacuuming, consider raking your carpet. You can buy a special carpet rake that looks similar to a garden rake. When you pull it across your carpet, it separates the fibers to make them stand up and feel softer.

How I Made My Home and Garden Look Great

Welcome to my blog! My name is Tyler and I would like to tell you a story about how I made my home and garden look great. For a long time, I didn't think twice about how my home and garden looked. However, then I met this wonderful woman and I realised I would be inviting her over to my place. I called in my friend who is a home and garden contractor and told him that I needed to fix up my home and garden. He was really great and completed the work while giving me some great tips. I am now married to that wonderful woman so I decided to start a blog to help others.
